When someone thinks of Australia, what most often comes to mind is the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House, kangaroos, and koalas. Everywhere you look is a postcard-worthy (Insta-worthy to you techie’s) picture, and you would be right. But, did you know that Australia is fast becoming a popular destination for international students? In this blog, we’ll be discussing five reasons why Australia should be on your list as an educational destination, and how you can be on your way to be a student in the Land Down Under!
LOWER COST OF LIVING
Living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower in Australia than other popular destinations (Yes, US and UK, we said that). To put it into perspective, the average rent in Australia is 24.86% lower than in the United States, and on average, the tuition is 15.33% lower than in the United Kingdom!
WORK AND STUDY
To add to the aforementioned cost of living, international students in Australia can work up to 20 hours per week as part of their student visa. Not only does it offset your living expenses during your stay, it also allows you to gain work experience in your field of interest. Pacific Training Group even teams up with partners like Empire Hospitality to provide not only training but employment opportunities for students.
GLOBAL RECOGNITION OF THE AUSTRALIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM
Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in the English-speaking world (behind you know, the US and UK…). The education system is carefully regulated by the government to maintain the high standards of education that the country has come to be known for. Graduates from Australian schools are highly sought after because of the international prestige of the Australian education system. Not confident of your English-speaking skills? Luckily, PTG also offers English Study Pathways, and you can download a brochure here.
DIVERSITY
In a 2016 census, it was found that 42.9% of Sydney’s population (Australia’s largest city) were born overseas! Australia’s diversified population allows international students an opportunity to connect with other cultures while at the same time connecting with communities centred on their own cultural affiliations! No one will feel homesick during their time in Australia, it’s a home away from home.
THE SIGHTS
Seriously, look at that. That’s not photoshopped, that’s Australia’s Gold Coast. Australia has received some of the most priceless gifts that Mother Nature can offer, and then some. From the world-famous architecture of the Sydney Opera House, to the sweeping beaches of Surfer’s Paradise (we have campuses there), Australia has much to offer whether you just want to take in the sights, or prefer to wander off to an adventure.
